For agencies running e-commerce clients

You can't defend a ROAS number the client can't reconcile.

This page is for paid media agencies whose clients sell on Shopify. The work is making the conversion signal trustworthy: server-side tracking on infrastructure the client owns, deduplication that holds up against real orders, and a GA4 that can be squared with the store. It goes out under your agency's brand.

Which of these has a client said to you this quarter?

“Meta says 40 purchases. Shopify says 31.”

Until someone can explain the gap, every optimization argument you make is contested. The client isn't being difficult. They're being asked to trust a number nobody has reconciled.

“Why did our ROAS drop the week we fixed tracking?”

Because the inflated number was the one everyone got used to. That conversation is much easier when the before and after were both measured deliberately.

“Half our revenue is showing as direct.”

Usually the campaign data doesn't survive the hop into checkout, so the order arrives with no idea where it came from.

What changes after the build

  • Events are sent from a server-side container in the client's own cloud project
  • Meta events are deduplicated against the pixel using event_id and event_name, and the match is checked against real orders
  • GA4 purchases are reconciled against the store's own order export, so the remaining difference is explainable
  • Consent choices are respected by every tag, instead of some tags firing regardless
  • The client keeps all of it: the container, the cloud project, the documentation

How Meta's deduplication actually works, and where the documentation says so, is on Signal quality for e-commerce clients. This page is about how that lands in an agency's book of business.

Questions agencies ask

Is this just installing a server-side container?
No. Installing it is the easy half. The work is proving that what arrives at Meta and GA4 matches what the store actually sold, which is a reconciliation job rather than an installation job.
Will GA4 and Shopify ever match exactly?
No, and anyone promising that is selling something. They can be brought close enough that the difference is explainable, which is what a client needs before they trust a number.
Do you need access to the store?
Not for the teardown. It runs from the outside with no logins. For the build I need read access, plus whatever else the job calls for, after an NDA.
Who presents this to the client?
You do. The report and the documentation carry your agency's branding, and I only join a call if you want me there.

Send me the store whose numbers you argue about most.

The teardown comes back unbranded, within 5 business days, ready to go to the client under your name.
